Touch input and control has become commonplace in all kinds of scenes. Here we make use of technology based on detection of capacitance in fingertips. Alps Alpine has developed the technology through a wide range of applications, for example in PCs, smartphones, game consoles and automotive electronics. Furthermore, AirInput™ modules, commercialized through now well-established in-house development of high-sensitivity capacitive sensor ICs, algorithms and sensors, are able to detect subtle movements of an operator's finger as it moves closer or further away within close proximity range, regardless of whether the user is wearing gloves. Combined with a new user interface, Alps Alpine presents intuitive, mid-air input and control solutions.
