Easy Trialing of Touchless Operation with Existing Touch Input Interface
Touchless operation garnered a lot of attention during the COVID-19 pandemic and even after the pandemic, difficulties around touch operation remain in many scenarios. Touchless operation is realized in a variety of ways. Alps Alpine achieves touchless operation with its AirInput™ Panel, utilizing original high-sensitivity capacitive sensing technology. A high-sensitivity capacitive sensor detects a finger’s position and distance in space close to the panel, with multiple thresholds, enabling smart, intuitive control.
Issue with Existing Touchless Control Panels
Usually when introducing touchless operation, a touchless control app needs to be newly developed alongside the hardware development or a proof of concept (PoC) cannot be created, making it hard to evaluate the benefits of switching to touchless operation.
Solution Case Example
The standard product in Alps Alpine’s AirInput™ Panel lineup is a 15.6-inch wide model, a commonly used size. An application guide and user’s manual are provided. Also available are an Operation Confirmation/Settings App and a Noise Monitoring & Drive Frequency Setting App.*1 With optional dedicated control software*2, an existing touch input screen can be used as-is without having to develop new software. Touchless control has been confirmed to be up and running the same day the hardware arrives.
